About BEB Organic Ingredients

We define all our ingredients in one of three categories - organic, plant or natural. But regardless of how we classify them, all of our ingredients are non-GMO, vegan, cruelty-free, allergy tested and free of synthetic fragrance or dye, mineral oil, petroleum, phthalates, phenoxyethanol, soy, dairy, palm, and gluten.

They are all EWG top-ranked.

• Organic:

Meets USDA criteria and is third-party verified to conform to organic agricultural standards.

• Natural:

Occurs naturally and without much alteration. For example, zinc is a mineral found naturally in the earth, but since it does not grow as an agricultural product, it cannot be classified as organic. Purified mineral water is another example of an ingredient that is natural, but not organic.

• Plant:

Derived from plant matter to meet third-party verified standards for health and safety. This includes ingredients like probiotics derived from microbiota. It also includes ingredients that come from plant materials but are made through lab synthesis to make them usable in skincare, such as Cetearyl Alcohol or Glyceryl Stearate.

The government requires all products to use the INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) Latin (English) nomenclature for botanical ingredients, but that can be so confusing.

BEB Organic products are naturally fresh for about 2 years and preserved with a patented botanical blend that uses glyceryl caprylate (made from coconut) combined with natural fruit esters like the acid from sodium anisate (related to licorice) to safely protect the products from fungus and bacteria.

BEB Organic never uses parabens, phenoxyethanol or other potentially unhealthy chemical preservatives that may act like estrogens in the body or donate toxins such as formaldehyde, and 1,4-dioxane.

It is easy to feel confused and overwhelmed when reading a typical ingredient label!

Many of the words in organic chemistry are difficult because the language is simply foreign to most people. Natural ingredients can appear synthetic and potentially risky when, in reality, the ingredients are perfectly healthy and safe.

Here’s an example: “alcohol” simply refers to any chemical structure that includes an “–OH” that stands for “oxygen and hydrogen”. The ingredient ”Ethylhexyl (Octyl) Palmitate” might seem intimidating, but this is a natural derivative of plant butters.

However, many companies misrepresent the claim of “all naturally-derived ingredients.” To avoid getting tricked by this, seek out natural skin care companies that communicate both the chemical and common origins of all ingredients, and that freely provide ingredient information and explanations when requested.

• Cocoa Seed Butter

  Cocoa Seed Butter is a natural body butter that lubricates, soothes and protects stressed skin, and contains a full spectrum of vitamins and minerals that nourish and soften skin to foster repair.

• Rosehip & Cranberry Concentrated Oils

  Our proprietary PHYTOCURA complex (with lots of gamma-linolenic acid) is made with ingredients known to stimulate skin growth and help balance and maintain the skin’s natural ecosystem of flora and fauna so essential to the skin’s immune functions. 

• Lubricating Plant Oils - wheat germ, linseed, sunflower, avocado, jojoba, meadowfoam seed, sesame seed, and olive fruit oils
  

  A specialized selection of plant-based lubricating oils that are pure and soothing, and support healing by increasing the oxygen and nutrient capacity of the skin. These oils act as excellent antioxidants with a high polyphenol content that help prevent degenerative diseases[1]. • Natural Fruit Extracts

  With the high polyphenol content found in natural fruit butters and extracts, you can soothe your baby’s skin while it benefits from fruit’s super antioxidant properties.

• Organics

  Organic ingredients are known to have more nutritional value for the skin with greater antioxidant capabilities than their non-organic counterparts. 

• Probiotics

  Probiotics are healthy bacteria that are necessary for the skin’s strength and immunity. They populate the skin to keep it healthy and protected, and are particularly important for eczema or other bothered skin conditions. Our probiotics come from vegan sources. 

• Rose Water (purified)

  Rose Water is used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine to soothe, hydrate, and calm the skin. It is protective and helps prevent damage from natural elements and environmental pollutants. 

• Shea Butter

  Shea Butter is a traditional African treatment for eczema, dermatitis, skin inflammation, and minor burns. It promotes healing, soothes irritated skin, and protects against environmental damage. The impressive lubricating and moisturizing qualities of shea butter are due to its very high content of non-saponifiable fatty acids.

• Specialty Oils

  This mild, extra sensitive and therapeutic formula includes organic oils of chamomile, geranium, rose and others in a purified or rose water base. Use of our proprietary blends offers much more than a gentle, beautiful smell. Our specialized blends specifically support bonding between parent and child. Fresh scents, free of synthetic fragrances, are simultaneously uplifting and calming to the senses, and invite feelings of joy and happiness without over stimulation. We never use any synthetic fragrances of any kind. 

• Surfactants (biodegradable and natural skin cleansers)

  Surfactants refer to a group of many types of cleansing agents. BEB Organic surfactants are plant-derived to gently remove dirt and grime without stripping away the body’s natural oils. They are extra gentle, yet highly effective, leaving the skin soft and fresh. Our cleansers are healthy for the body and for the environment.
